Sudan
can be characterized by its virgin economy, with a hidden
productive force. Sudan has a huge opportunity for growth in
both the short and long run. One major factor that will
enhance this growth is an upcoming peace agreement, which
has made a large number of Sudanese expatriates willing to
return to Sudan. However, after their experienced success
abroad, they will desire a lifestyle which is not readily
available in the current real estate market.
Sudan
is a country of great wealth, culture and heritage. It is
the largest country in the Middle East and Africa, with a
total area of 2.5 million square kilometers. It shares
borders with Egypt and Libya in the north, Eritrea and
Ethiopia in the east, Kenya, Uganda and Congo in the south, and
Central Africa and Chad in the west.
Sudan
enjoys a variety of climates, ranging from an equatorial
climate in the far south with an average rainfall 1500
mm/annum, to a savannah climate in the mid strip with
rainfall of 300 mm/annum, to a desert climate in the far
north with almost no rain throughout the year.
The
peace agreements underway are a significant milestone for
Sudan. Lenders and donors are showing an increased interest
in the country, looking forward to the economic gains Sudan
will undoubtedly enjoy as the oil industry is developed.
As an
added benefit. the peace treaty signature will remove
Sudan’s name from the U.S. list of state sponsors of
terrorism.
